Discussing SQ and Wholeness with MC Lessard

9 Dec

Cropped Picture - MCThis week we have the pleasure of introducing one of my friends and an impressive business woman, MC Lessard. When the Sister Leadership team was brainstorming women to interview on the Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) theme of wholeness, MC jumped into my mind for her well-rounded approach to health, well-being, work and spirituality. She is co-founder of 4D Excellence, an organization that works with women who are professionally successful but crave a better quality of life. Her approach is based upon Positive Psychology, neuroscience and other related sciences – as well as building personal energy levels and defining balance.

See why we wanted to interview her? Perfect for the topic of wholeness!

So what is the Spiritual Intelligence approach to wholeness? Here at Sister Leadership, we define it as “a spiritual sense of belonging, or “going home“ experienced in our human form. Transcending the physical and material world, wholeness is achieved by caring for yourself before others, allowing others to be who they are and you to be your authentic self. It is respecting your mind, body and soul by letting go of critical self-sabotage and the expectations of others. As to larger patterns or systems, wholeness helps you attain a perspective on a situation, problem or opportunity. Seeing the bigger picture of the impact of systems, relationships and connections is anchored in wholeness by exploring inner-peace, forgiveness, self-forgiveness, self-love, joy, inner-wisdom and abundance.”

This week's Spiritual Intelligence theme is Wholeness

This week’s Spiritual Intelligence theme is Wholeness

Let’s dive in and see how MC interprets and lives this concept of wholeness.

Most of us are not trained to care for ourselves first. Describe your path to taking the time to develop spiritually in your life. MC, how do you administer loving self-care and build on the holistic approach to spirituality?

You’re right in saying that we are not trained to care for ourselves first. Even today, I have to remind myself that it is critical I put myself at the top of my priority list if I’m going to be present to enjoy the juiciest of life’s moments with family and friends. This said, I like the expression a friend shared with me about being regularly irregular in my contemplative practice.

From having held a Cartesian view of the world up until recently (really only about 6 years ago), I quickly transitioned to a more expansive, ethereal view after attending Basic Practitioner NLP Training at NLP Partners.  The concept of metaphors, patterns, connections, parallels suddenly came to me through multiple coaching opportunities and I saw myself widening the window through which I was gazing at life.  While, up until then, the lack of relatedness between the aspects of my life had put loads of stress on me and had contributed to various forms of physical pain, the moment I embraced the possibility that there was something bigger than me was soon followed by calm, peace, diminished pain, and more resilience towards the unknown.  I gradually began integrating a self-taught contemplative practice consisting of a short period of stillness in the early hours after rising (I get up at 5 am).  Sometimes I sit quietly while, on other days when I’m in need of a deeper trance, I listen to 20-30 min. of binaural sounds.  These help to synchronize the waves of the 2 hemispheres.  This precious daily routine has felt like complete luxury even though its benefits are  noticeable: I’m more calm, patient, kind, connected, creative, and accepting.

Spiritually, I think the most significant progress I have made is around my connection to others since I totally adhere to the notion of oneness.  Curiosity, compassion and empathy are now part of my paradigm and have gleefully replaced judgement on good days : ).  On the self-care front, this has meant that I am also learning to offer self-compassion much more often, a gesture that is grossly underrated.

Can you share your vision of wholeness. Do you believe that we are humans in a spiritual experience or do you believe that we are spiritual beings in a human experience?

I believe in one Universe where each atom is in relation to every other atom.  Everything is energy and energy is everything.

I see humans as being four dimensional (this is what the 4D in 4D Excellence implies):  emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions.  In my view, the latter—the spiritual dimension—is the only absolute, intemporal one.  I definitely see humans as spiritual beings having a human experience when the other three dimensions take form.  Although the four dimensions were never taught to me as such, the concept of the spiritual being having a human experience was.  Again, this is something I accepted the moment it was presented to me.  It felt so right, so true.

In the human form, we have opportunities to elevate our vibration through the overcoming of challenges which, I imagine, might not be the case in spirit form.  I think our emotional dimension is tightly bound to our spiritual dimension in that it is through our capacity to experience feelings that we have the necessary guidance to seek joy, peace, and love and to heal all of those low-vibrating emotions like anger, shame, guilt, and sadness.  I was privileged a few years ago to meet my deceased father during an unexpected channelling.  The feelings that were stirred in me at that time seemed to lighten my emotional load and may have contributed to elevating the energy of my spirit.  Regardless of science, that’s a thought I like to entertain because it feels good!

How does it feel to have a spiritual sense of belonging to the Source, e.g. Creator, Universal Energy, Christ energy or other creative force? How have you been able to strengthen your connection to that Source?

Source is what I believe is the origin of all creation. As such, Source is my essence.  Connecting deeply with this thought makes me feel so powerful, powerful in a way that is immensely liberating and stimulating.  Being Source reminds me of the impossibility of others to harm me, of my ability to transform low vibrational energy into high vibrational energy, and of the unlimited freedom I have to manifest what I desire.  This might sound pretty boastful but we all share the same power although few of us acknowledge it.  I believe more of us are becoming aware and open to the laws of the Universe and to their potential.  Thanks to this collective shift in consciousness, the future should be brighter than ever.

Many thanks to MC for her open and fascinating discussion on the aspect of wholeness within Spiritual Intelligence. From the idea of oneness, to the importance of our spiritual dimension, to the idea of stillness (which seems to be a developing theme amongst our interviewees!), there is much to consider and take away from this discussion.
